Aaron & Kate Scobie together operate A&K Scobie Performance Horses

Discipline:

Mostly focusing on Reined Cow Horses but enjoy training, showing and coaching across the whole range of performance events

Who has influenced your passion for equestrian the most and why?

Aaron and Kate have had so many great mentors over the years and have learnt from every horse. Andrew and Manuela McLean have been great influences around understanding learning theory and horse behaviour which has shaped their program to what it is today. The versatility of trainers who have been successful across multiple disciplines like Todd Bergen, Bob Avila and Ian Francis has also driven the passion.

What has been your biggest riding-related accomplishment?

Taking a horse to a show and it is showing its full potential and find the right job for it to do is always a win! Taking home the 2023 ARCHA Hackamore Classic Champion on Diamond in the Dark was cool too

What do you do to prepare yourself for competition?

Kate doesn’t have any superstitions, but does try and avoid too much coffee on show day…Aaron is slowly learning to let go of several things…and has only recently become ok with other people putting boots on his horses

What is your dream riding goal?

To have happy, sound and competitive horses. Aaron would love to make the World’s Greatest Horseman finals one day too!

Platinum Low GI is Aaron & Kate’s go to feed, it’s a great low starch feed that still delivers quality protein and fat for our performance horses. With the pro and prebiotics and mycotoxin binder it has really simplified their feeding program while keeping all their horses looking and feeling great!!

It suits a variety of horses- they all love it and it gives them all the goodness they need in one pellet.

It’s a great base for my whole team.
