Who has influenced your passion for equestrian the most and why?
Early on (as a child), I was lucky enough to learn with a great coach, Pip Collins, who taught me invaluable skills in horse management and riding. She had a love of classical dressage and trained with Miguel Tavora.
As a teenager, I began training with Miguel and did so until his passing. He was definitely my greatest influence; I’m still guided by both of these mentors through their teachings every day.
What has been your biggest riding-related accomplishment?
I’ve had a few, but probably riding my first FEI test on a horse I’d trained through the levels was a big deal.
I had two horses in the same class win Champion and Reserve at the Australian Dressage Championships last year — that was pretty cool.
What do you do to prepare yourself for competition?
I actually love the preparation — the plaiting, grooming, etc. I think it gives me a connection with the horse before we start.
This is not always possible with a big team, but I like to do it when I can.
What is your dream riding goal?
Having multiple Grand Prix horses who are happy and performing well.
To compete for Australia would be amazing — but creating happy athletes is definitely the ultimate goal.
Which is your favourite Johnson’s Natural Formula feed and why?
It suits a variety of horses — they all love it and it gives them all the goodness they need in one pellet.
It’s a great base for my whole team.
